Just three days after their new wildland fire gear arrived, Galahad firefighters had the opportunity to put it into action.
The new gear was made possible through a $7,200 grant from Enbridge to Flagstaff County Regional Emergency Services.
It arrived Friday, April 27. On Monday, April 30, the Galahad Fire Department was dispatched to a rural property near the junction of Highways 608 and 869, where a number of outbuildings were fully engulfed.
Clad in their new gear, Galahad firefighters extinguished the blaze alongside firefighters from neighbouring Alliance. Both departments were on scene for about three hours.
Galahad firefighters further broke in the new gear during a practice session on May 3.
Enbridge’s generous donation will also benefit the Strome Fire Department.
