Development Officer

THE POSITION:  Development Officer

Location:  County Office – Sedgewick, Alberta
As the Development Officer, you will manage all development and planning issues that pertain to Flagstaff County, within the realm of the Land Use Bylaw, Municipal Development Plan and Intermunicipal Development Plans.  This position will also require you to act as a representative for Flagstaff County. You will be required to present reports to County Council, liaise with external clients such as contracted planning agencies, safety services providers and other municipal jurisdictions. You will also need to conduct follow up inspections to ensure compliance with all development permits.
This position will also require you to become familiar with the County’s subdivision application and review process. You will review, and analyze subdivision applications, and liaise with the contracted planning agency as required.

THE CANDIDATE:                 
The ideal candidate will possess:
1.       Knowledge, skill and experience in the field of Municipal Planning and Development.
2.       A certificate in Applied land Use Planning, or education equivalent to obtain accreditation.
3.       Excellent leadership and an effective level of skill in both verbal and written communication.
4.       Ability to achieve practical results in a dynamic work environment.
