2010 Small Business Awards Evening
Flagstaff County is proud to present the 2010 Small Business Awards. This event honors businesses whose achievements and contributions to our "Community of communities" distinguish them from their peers.
The Small Business Awards evening will be held on Thursday October 21,2010 at the Hardisty Community Hall. Nominations are open for everyone to nominate a business in the Flagstaff Region.

Flagstaff County is open for business. Agriculture, oil and gas are the main economic drivers and similar to many other Alberta rural communities, the booming provincial economy has resulted in the following outcomes:
- Industrial development and activity in the oil and gas sector continue to flourish and add substantially to the local economy.
- Farmland market values continue to increase
- Residential market values in the County (and in the municipalities)are experiencing increases thereby increasing the demand for a relatively limited supply of residential properties for purchase or rental opportunities
- Ongoing and continued contract and employment opportunities for a wide variety of trades
Through the Business & Community Development Committee, Flagstaff County has established the following goals and objectives for the Economic Development Department:
Business Retention and Expansion
- Create an open dialogue with new and existing businesses to learn more about their business and industry
- Attract services to Flagstaff County and the municipalities within that will support business development
- Promote the Flagstaff County business community
- Participate in community events that involve stakeholders
Investment Attraction
- Collect maintain and make available data to support business development activities
- Market Flagstaff County for commercial, industrial and residential development
- Collaborate with regional partners in business attraction initiatives
Community Promotion
- Produce promotional materials that will reflect the quality of life in Flagstaff County
- Support the marketing activities of developers and business through partnerships
- Participate in events that showcase the communities as a region
Economic Development Planning
- Participate in long term planning to support sustainability, growth and redevelopment strategies
