Flagstaff Community Medical Recruitment & Retention Committee
The Flagstaff Community Medical Recruitment & Retention Committee was formed
in 2008 to ensure long term viability of recruitment and retention of medical
professionals in the Flagstaff Community.
The core membership of the committee consists of eight members:
- One representative from each town council with a hospital within their municipality
(3)
- One representative from each hospital (Daysland/Killam/Hardisty) (3)
- One representative from Alberta Health Services
- One representative from Flagstaff County
The committee meets on a bi-monthly basis and receives funding on an annual
basis through Flagstaff County, subject to budget approval, for the following
projects:
- Marketing
- Recognition
- Communication
- Recruitment
- Retention
- Workshops/Training
- Administration
- Advertising
The committee works together with the Rural Physicians Action Plan (RPAP) to
develop strategies regarding the recruitment and retention of medical professionals
within our region. In order to achieve success, it is imperative
to focus on the strengths and advantages that our rural communities have to
offer physicians – and more importantly, their families.
Each year committee members attend the RPAP Workshop in Nisku, AB, to share
successes and struggles that contribute to a community’s ability to attract
and keep physicians.
